They Watch Our Back, Seeking Truth

Throughout the entirety of the blog project spectacles, and critique of local news organizations, WDRB has gotten some pretty mixed reviews. They're good, they're bad, they're average. It appears that various blogs have gone to taking sides over this intriguing debate. I myself have even flip flopped between conclusions. One one side we have Satchel's blog, who has recently debuted his writings of "A General Review of WDRB," and, "In Defense of WDRB." In the first post he even goes on to give the news station a four out of five rating, citing that, "... imperfect as it is, is the best Kentuckiana has got." On the other side we have Evie, with post statements such as, "WDRB Needs to Fix Their Balance," and, "WDRB: Do They Really Cared About What Is Being Aired?"  Clearly we see the differences between the two. However this is not a critique on my peers' personal opinions. This is an open invitation to be challenged- no matter whom you are or what side you stand- and reflect on someone in the community that has our back.
Tonight WDRB aired a riveting story of LMPD officers and detectives, tax dollars being leeched, and falsely reported work times. It appears LMPD plays the villain in this saga, with a case of multiple officers/detectives reporting false working hours. They earned money- while being completely off-duty. Our tax money goes towards paying these hard working men and women, who attempt to keep our streets safe and criminals locked away. But no, for several employees this was not the case. While we assumed they were risking their lives to save ours, instead they were off duty, all the while reporting being clocked in. One man even clocked in, only to go work a UPS job.
Now you may wonder, how is it that this came about? Who is it that unveiled the corruption from within? WDRB and their investigative reporting, that's who. A while back, WDRB ran across some suspicious check in times from LMPD, and decided to take a further look. By doing this,  they not only stopped the deceivers, but held them by their throats as well. Justice shows no mercy in these courts. Precious, hard earned money by the locals is being watched over carefully, and the hierarchy was questioned. WDRB implemented the journalism Element Watchdog, by keeping an eye on and intimidating those in power. WDRB? They have our backs, and are really watching out for the common people, the public majority.
So it doesn't matter if WDRB plays to many sports stories. That they run a ton of ads or crime or basic human interests. They try their best and have our faults like the rest of us. They're good, bad, and average all rolled into one. But when it comes down to who we can trust, I think we all know the answer.
