Response to Guinnevere's, "Response to 10 Elements of Journalism Discussion"

Guinnevere Lane recently posted the following response, "Response to 10 Elements of Journalism Discussion," to her Lane's 1st Blog. She explains her thoughts on how journalists strive towards the ten elements of journalism, and that most importantly, that media should remain unbiased. "In my opinion the greatest responsibility of a journalist is to present citizens with independent and truthful news so that they can come up with their own independent, ideas, thought processes, and opinions."

Here I must steadily agree with her, that media corporations tend to show blatant left or right wing propaganda. It's all part of the act and attaining of biased consumption; to tailor the public's wants. Populist media, if you will. They make money on the excitement one feels, to indulge in the need to feel correct. Thus creates the power hungry outlets such as Fox News or CNN, bending the truth even just a wee bit in order to appeal to the selected niche. She further explains that, " A large amount of the American public will not question the validity of the news making them oblivious to bias and lack of truth."  And this appears to be true in many circumstances. We are taught to trust the news, trust the police, trust the government. And we should be able to.

So to say that there is biased media would be true, just as there is unbiased media. I think Guinnevere has an excellent position on this topic, and makes it clear that she is not attacking these medias, but rather expressing frustration. We should be able to make our own defined opinions on certain topics, not fed ideals like toddlers.
